Baldwin County Commissioner and now chairman of the Commission, Jeb Ball crafted a letter and sent it to Governor Kay Ivey, asking the Governor to ban vaccination mandates state wide.
This as federal officials plow through hundreds of requests from corporate groups and individuals raising questions and concerns about upcoming rules that will require many companies to implement Covid vaccinations or testing protocols for their workers.
Commissioner Ball sent the letter to the governor independent of the full body of the commission.
Ball says this was after hearing from constituents who work government contracts and some who believe OSHA oversight over their companies might force them to comply with a vaccine mandate.
“They are very concerned about the OSHA compliance part of it because most of the people in Baldwin County that work in all these industries are probably under OSHA compliance and they are calling us wanting to know if they will lose their jobs because there’s a few that feel like they shouldn’t have to take the vaccine in order to keep their job. This is not about whether the shot is right or not or if guy should or should not take the shot, this is just about people’s rights to be able to choose whether to take the shot or not,” said Ball.
Ball says he asked the Governor to take action as part of the upcoming special session.
Governor Ivey’s office confirms receipt of the letter, adding that the governor has always said she does not support any type of federal overreaching in any form.
