EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders newcomer Aaron Monroe (played by Charlie Wernham) is going to cause some big waves in the middle of the soap's current racism storyline.

Aaron is the son of Harvey (Ross Boatman), who has been fired from his taxi job after a clash with Ash Kaur (Gurlaine Kaur Garcha) in which he made some racially-charged comments, and is desperate to get his dad's job back for him.

In scenes due to air soon, Aaron decides to do that by threatening Kat Slater for unfair dismissal, while his younger sister Dana (Barbara Smith) tries to beg for Ash to forgive Harvey.

Later on, Aaron confronts Ash in the Queen Vic, which leads to Dana confronting Aaron over his behaviour. He brushes off her words though, and starts to show an interest in Bobby Beale, who has been a follower of Islam in the last few years.

Speaking about his character recently with Digital Spy, Wenham stated that Aaron was "opinionated about everything".

"He'll try to take control of the situation, sort things out and try to do best by his dad and his sister. With Dana dating Bobby, Aaron is also going to have an opinion on whether he's good enough for her. He'll have a say on his dad, the flat, and his dad's job.

"It all comes from a good place, with his family especially. Aaron wants to protect them, he wants to keep them safe, and he wants people to respect them."

Will the Monroe men realise the impact of their words on Ash?

EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One.
