Ed Orgeron faces an uncertain coaching future beyond his final five games as the leader of the LSU Tigers, but there's one place he can bank on being able to land if he needs it.

That'd be Joe Burrow's house, more specifically the basement, Bobby Hebert told the LSU coach on SportsTalk this week. The former LSU star reaffirmed his affinity for his former college coach after hearing news of the decision the program would be moving on after this season.

"I mean, I can tell you what Joe Burrow thinks of you is like freakin’ unbelievable," Hebert continued. "I mean, look at the Cincinnati Bengals and the success because of Joe Burrow, where they’re at right now. He said I’m forever indebted to Coach O."

The LSU head coach was speaking just days after a Sunday press conference to announce Orgeron would coach the remaining games of the 2021 season, after which they'd hire his replacement. Orgeron likely will be able to afford his own lodging, considering his buyout deal comes in at just shy of $17 million over the next 5 years. But his connection to Burrow shouldn't and won't be overlooked. He's the man who brought the future Heisman winner to Baton Rouge in the first place, after all.

Well, Orgeron and the crawfish, the coach said, sharing the near disaster when he was told the restaurant they brought Burrow to on his recruiting visit didn't have any in stock.

"They didn’t have any crawfish so we had to call another restaurant and we had to tell them to bring in the crawfish. So they brought it to the kitchen and they cooked it," Orgeron recalled, laughing. “We called, ‘we just found crawfish man, thank God.”

That title, and crawfish, is something that can't be taken away, even as LSU heads into matchups with Ole Miss, Alabama and Texas A&M knowing the future is anything but certain.
