Singapore's Changi Airport was named as the world's best airport in our Readers' Choice Awards 2021, but beyond its duty free, the city-state is a buzzing metropolis of world-class restaurants, hotels and shopping centres (think Las Vegas proportions, complete with inside waterways and gondola rides). As of October 2021, the destination's move to ease restrictions for vaccinated individuals has prompted a rush to book flights – but can you travel to Singapore from the UK? Here's everything you need to know…

Can I travel to Singapore from the UK?

Yes: in October 2021, Singapore re-opened its borders to a vetted list of countries – including the UK – after 21 months.

What are the travel restrictions for visiting Singapore?

Previously, those travelling to Singapore from other countries either had to quarantine at a hotel at their own expense or, for arrivals from some states, such as Australia, isolate in a location of their choosing. The latest regulations mean that fully-vaccinated travellers from the UK can enter the city-state without quarantining.

The rule change is part of Singapore's Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) scheme, and means that passengers arriving from countries who are part of this scheme (which includes the UK) will not have to quarantine if they have been fully vaccinated. As of Tuesday 26 April, restrictions will continue to lift, with vaccinated travellers no longer needing to test before departure to Singapore (on-arrival tests have been waived since 1 April).

Singapore will accept the UK’s proof of Covid-19 recovery and vaccination record. Your NHS appointment card from vaccination centres is not designed to be used as proof of vaccination and should not be used to demonstrate your vaccine status.

Unvaccinated travellers cannot enter Singapore unless they are a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident. It is possible to apply for permission to enter for exceptional reasons, such as compassionate grounds. Find out more about how you can apply to enter Singapore

Do I need to take a PCR test to enter Singapore from the UK?

No, as of 26 April 2022 fully vaccinated travellers to Singapore no longer need to take a pre-departure Covid test.

Do I need to isolate when coming from Singapore to the UK?

As of 18 March 2022, all Covid travel rules in the UK were lifted, which means that no travellers – regardless of their vaccination status – need to test, quarantine or fill in a passenger locator form when travelling to the UK.
