And the two shall be as one! My wife and I got a joint account when we got married and all of our income has been just that…our income. We have both respected each other and never made a major purchase without agreeing on it.

I will never have joint bank accounts with anyone. I have been married to my 2nd wife for over 10 years and we keep separate accounts. I pay all the bills since I make a lot more than her. The only thing I ask her is to put money in her 401K and she pays her own cellphone bill. it has worked out great. We never argue about money ever.

My wife and I have had a joint account for 45 years. I can see separate if it is a second marriage or you are older and one has substantially more than the other. I our case she was 21 and I was 23
