Coronation Street star Jane Danson has opened up about life with husband and fellow soap star Robert Beck.

The actress, who plays Leanne Battersby on the ITV soap, has been married to Robert – who recently joined Hollyoaks as Fergus Collins – since 2005.

Appearing on today's (October 20) Lorraine, Jane was asked about how they manage to balance their home life with their two sons around such busy schedules.

"The last sort of 10 months have been a bit different, actually, because he's been there for quite a while to play out a story," she replied. "And he's really enjoyed it.

"The good thing about it is that we both get soaps, and we both understand the schedule. Sometimes things change, sometimes he might be in early and sometimes he might be in late. So we just kind of got our diaries out together and kind of planned our week.

"My mum was always on hand to help out with the boys, which was amazing. So we've got a lot of support, which is great."

Jane continued: "But you know he jobs anyway, so there are periods of time where he's not here for the odd week here and there. So I think like most people we just kind of work it out.

"But it's been real nice for him to play out this story, he's been a real baddie, it's been a really meaty part."

Lorraine then suggested that Robert could join her soap, the actress admitting: "I'd like him on Corrie!"

It comes after Jane recently spoke on the secret to their 22-year romance, comparing it to the on-screen relationship between Leanne and Nick Tilsley (Ben Price).

"Me and my husband have been together for 22 years, and we're really good friends as well as loving each other lots," she told OK!. "Nick and Leanne are similar in a way. We feel like we've gone full circle. They've been childhood sweethearts since they were about 16, and I was 18 when I met my husband so I think whatever it is they keep coming back to each other.

"It's nice for us, as actors, to be able to draw on that history. Leanne has much more drama in her life than I do in mine though, that's for sure!"

Jane is currently at the centre of Coronation Street's Super Soap Week, which will see Leanne once again come face-to-face with the evil Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) in terrifying scenes.

Speaking last week about the confrontation, the actress teased: "Harvey is a really frightening character who's involved in this awful world and she's fearful for her life. She knows that he means business and he's not going to mess about.

"Leanne's pretty savvy and streetwise but she knows a bad egg when she sees one. It's pre watershed but within the realms of that it's as serious as it gets and we certainly played it as her fighting for her life."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
