It’s almost time for the New York Giants to close the chapter on Daniel Jones and the 2022 NFL Draft is the time to start.

The post-Eli Manning era for the New York Giants hasn’t gotten off to a great start. We’re not halfway through the season, but it’s time for the G-Men to look toward the 2022 NFL Draft for help.

Through six games of the 2021 NFL season, the G-Men look like the worst team in the NFC East. If we’re being honest, the Giants are one of the worst teams in the conference. Injuries have destroyed their team, especially on offense. Meanwhile, Daniel Jones hasn’t gotten rid of that turnover bug.

Meanwhile, opposing offenses are having their way with the defense. They’re giving up nearly 30 points per game and they have one of the worse run defenses in the league.

With the Giants performing the way they are, Dave Gettleman gets a ton of heat, whether he’s around for the 2022 NFL Draft remains to be seen. However, he set the G-Men up nice with five picks on the first two days. Here are a few prospects that could help the G-Men usher in another era.

New York Giants: Daniel Jones replacement and other 2022 prospects

1. Malik Willis, QB, Liberty

Daniel Jones has one major flaw, he turns the ball over way too much. Through six games, he’s thrown four touchdowns and interceptions. He hasn’t taken that next step forward and doesn’t appear he’ll take the next step. Unfortunately, Jones’ time is up whether or not a new GM takes over. Liberty’s Malik Willis is the ideal quarterback to breathe life into the Giants.

Willis commands Liberty’s offense thanks to the confidence that the staff has in him. He calls plays at the line and post-snap he shows off his electric arm capable of making all throws. His zip and power are second to none in the 2022 NFL Draft. He’ll need to develop his footwork inside the pocket, but he’s an elite escape artist.

Willis’s quickness and pocket sense will minimize mask the offensive lineman deficiencies. He makes accurate throws outside the pocket and exploits defenses downfield. As a runner, once in the open field, he’ll make guys miss and blow past defenders.

Pairing him with players like Toney, Shepard, and Galloway makes for an excellent core. He’s a first-round prospect whose stock is on the rise. Luckily, the G-Men have plenty of draft capital.
