UPDATE 1:42 p.m. (10/21/21): The Lyn-Dan Heights Volunteer Fire Department shared photos of crews as they battled Wednesday’s tractor-trailer fire in Campbell County, which shut down U.S. Route 29 for several hours.
When first responders from Lyn-Dan and Evington arrived at the scene, they found a tractor-trailer engulfed in smoke and flames, as you can see in the images below:
UPDATE 3:11 p.m.: Six hours after a tractor-trailer fire shut down U.S. Route 29 in Campbell County, VDOT announced that all of northbound and southbound lanes are back open.
UPDATE 1:48 p.m.: VDOT says the northbound right lane and right shoulder are still closed on U.S. Route 29 in Campbell County due to Wednesday morning’s vehicle fire.
UPDATE 9:11 a.m.: According to VDOT, all southbound lanes of U.S. Route 29 have been reopened at the scene of Wednesday morning’s tractor-trailer fire in Campbell County.
However, VDOT says the northbound lanes are still closed along U.S. Route 29 near Castle Craig Drive while crews respond to the incident.
CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Campbell County motorists may need to seek an alternate route Wednesday morning because of a vehicle fire closing down U.S. Route 29.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) says all northbound and southbound lanes are blocked off on U.S. Route 29 near Castle Craig Drive/Route 912.
There is no word on the extent of the delays resulting from the vehicle fire at this time.
