Newlywed Couple Tragically Killed Just Two Days After Their Wedding

A young Tennessee couple who were tragically killed in a road collision last weekend had only got married two days earlier, it has been revealed.

WATE reports that Jessiah Plemons, 31, Lily Rose, 25 and another passenger Madison Davis, 23, were all struck and killed by a truck travelling along the I-40 Ramp to Weisgarber Road at around 3am on Sunday, October 17.

The incident occurred after a truck the three victims were travelling on struck a guardrail. They exited the vehicle and were standing next to it when another truck hit them and their car.

All three died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the other truck was taken to a nearby hospital. His current status is unknown.

The incident is being investigated by the Knoxville Police Department's crash reconstruction investigators.

Plemons' sister, Milea Effler, told the news outlet that her brother and Lily Rose had got married the previous Friday, October 15, after five months of dating.

She also revealed Plemons had been looking after his older sister's two children, aged two and five, prior to his sad passing.

Effler has set up a GoFundMe to help cover the costs of his funeral. At the time of writing, $4,350 had been raised, beating the initial target of $4,000.

That figure was significantly boosted by an anonymous donation of $2,700.

Writing on the "Jessiah Plemons Memorial Fund" page Effler remembered her brother as a "great person" who "fought to keep our family together."

"Many of you know how Jess struggled with his early life but was finally reborn out of addiction and had his life on track," she wrote. "He had taken in my niece and nephew as his own and decided they would have a better life."

Effler told WATE the children will now live with their grandparents.

A GoFundMe has also been set up for Lily Rose, by her aunt Selena McClelland who set up the fundraiser to give her niece "a proper burial."

"She has two precious children that she loved with all her heart and a family that loves her dearly," McClelland wrote.

So far, $1,420 has been raised on the page, which exceeds the $1,000 target set.

Newsweek has contacted Effler and McClelland for comment.

The story comes just over a week after it emerged a man killed in another road collision in Washington was just days away from marrying the "love of his life."

Christopher Goles, 47, was run over and killed while attempting to cross the road to meet a tow truck driver who had been called out to assist him following a minor road collision.

In another tragic story, a bride-to-be in North Carolina was left bereft after the man she was due to marry died as a result of blood clot incurred while recovering from the effects of Covid-19.

He had not been vaccinated against the virus.
