New-gen versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have been spotted on European game ratings board PEGI.

As noted by Video Games Chronicle, the listings for the Game of the Year Edition were updated yesterday to add the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The classification seems to imply we might expect a release date soon, although CD Projekt Red are yet to confirm one.

A spokesperson for the studio offered a comment to VGC on the listings. “PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S are new platforms for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, so the game had to be submitted for age classification on these platforms specifically. This is standard procedure and the date mentioned on PEGI’s website is the rating’s issue date. Release date is yet to be announced.”

A new-gen upgrade for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been promised for some time, first being announced last September. We were reassured that they were still coming this year during WitcherCon this past summer. However, the team warned investors in September “We cannot be absolutely dead certain that the release schedule will not change.”

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt‘s new-gen version is being worked on by Saber Interactive. They’re helping externally for CD Projekt Red as the latter focuses on giving the same treatment to Cyberpunk 2077. Hopefully, we’ll hear of a release date in the very near future.
