Nottingham Forest Striker Lyle Taylor Scored The Most Relaxed 90th Minute Penalty

Nottingham Forest striker Lyle Taylor took the most relaxed penalty ever seen in the 91st minute last night.

Forest were losing 1-0 away at Bristol City in the Championship when Djed Spence was brought down by Nathan Baker in the area.

There was immense pressure on Taylor but he approached the penalty like he was just playing five-a-side at Powerleague with his mates.

He genuinely didn't even take a run-up; instead slowly walking towards the ball when the referee blew his whistle.

Some might view it as arrogant or disrespectful but the strategy worked a treat as the former Charlton Athletic striker sent goalkeeper Daniel Bentley the wrong way and emphatically converted his spot-kick.

Taylor had been brought on as a substitute and after equalising, went one better by tapping home a late winner at the far post a minute later to complete a remarkable turnaround and give Steve Cooper's side a huge last-gasp win at Ashton Gate.

The Robins fans had been giving Taylor some serious stick for his pink hair - which he dyes every October in order to raise funds for Cancer Research - but he ultimately had the last laugh.

Taylor has raised over £49,000 through is Pink October challenge since 2018 and is hoping to bring in another £10,000 this year.

Manager Cooper paid tribute to the Taylor for his heroics and charity work post-match.

"I have only known Lyle for three or four weeks, but I really like him and he has a big heart," the former England youth coach said, as per Sky Sports.

"It said a lot that after netting the penalty he rushed to grab the ball for the restart, even though there was so little time left. That is the winning mentality we are trying to instil. Lyle has worked really hard on his game since I joined the club and deserved his moments tonight.

"He does some great work for charity so there is a lot to like about him."

The 31-year-old's totally unique penalty technique is something he uses on a regular basis even in the most high-pressure of scenarios.

Paul Pogba caused a stir with his running man style approach a couple of years back but Taylor's knack of casually strolling is next level and has brought him plenty of success.

He's scored from the same situation in the 97th minute for Forest before and also deep into stoppage time for Charlton back in 2019/20.

Ice in the veins. The Montserrat international has taken 31 penalties in his career, scoring 23 and missing eight.
