The late Peter Anastos takes a break at the counter of The Texas sometime in the 1980s. The restaurant was owned previously by James Williams and Frank Klaras. In 1961, Frank’s cousin Nick Klaras and Anastos, James’s nephew, took the reigns. The pair would continue to run the show until 1991 when Anastos’s youngest son Phil bought out Nick. Anastos passed away in 1990 at the age of 60. Phil still owns the staple restaurant downtown and his mother, Stella, is known to help out at the restaurant as well.
