Biden’s botched Afghanistan withdrawal keeps getting worse all the time

.

President Joe Biden and his administration assured us that they “planned for every contingency” in withdrawing from Afghanistan. Revisiting the latest news on that front, that claim remains laughable.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Afghan families are now literally selling their children in order to repay debts. Afghanistan’s economy is on the brink of collapse, the prices of basic goods have skyrocketed, and the value of its currency has collapsed. We are about 14 weeks removed from Biden claiming that a Taliban takeover was “not inevitable” and just over eight weeks removed from the Taliban waltzing into the Afghan capital of Kabul, to his utter surprise.

Meanwhile, even weeks after Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley said that it was “possible” the United States would coordinate counterterrorism strikes with the Taliban, the Associated Press is now reporting that the Taliban are promising cash and land to the families of suicide bombers who attacked U.S. and Afghan soldiers.

Yes, that’s the same Taliban that Biden decided to let handle the security of Kabul during his frantic evacuation, which led to a suicide bomber killing 13 U.S. service members.

Heckuva job, Bidey.

Meanwhile, no one has been fired over the administration’s response to the suicide bombing attack, nor for the war crime with which Biden followed up — a retaliatory drone strike that killed a humanitarian worker, seven children, and two other civilians. You may remember that attack as the one Milley described as a “righteous strike,” even though Pentagon leaders claimed they knew the airstrike had killed civilians within hours of the attack.

Again, it must be asked: Is this what “planning for every contingency” looks like to the Biden administration? What, if anything, can the administration point to as a success from this operation? The best the administration could do is highlight its own frantic evacuation of civilians, but even that was an unforced error that cost American lives and left several hundred Americans stranded.

From start to finish, Biden oversaw a disaster, and the facts only continue to get worse over time. But he has moved on to fail at other things, all while taking no responsibility for the train wreck that his White House has become.
