MBTA Cites Skateboard – NBC Boston

The MBTA says a skateboard appears to be responsible for a derailment on the Green Line.

The train derailed shortly before 8 p.m. on Heath Street in the E branch of the line, the MBTA said.

The cause of the derailment is being investigated. The MBTA first said it appeared to have “interacted with debris on the rails” and later stated that it appeared to have hit a skateboard.

“While the investigation is still very active, it appears that the train ran into a skateboard that was wedged between the wheels and the track,” the MBTA said in a statement.

The service at Brigham Circle will be suspended due to the derailment, tweeted the MBTA. The passengers were instructed to use bus 39 for replacement traffic.

No one was injured in the incident, the MBTA said.
