NCIS Season 19 will go on a two-week hiatus before the TV show returns with Episode 6.

The delay isn't a surprise because NBC must be gearing up for their upcoming Halloween specials.

Other than this, a two-week hiatus will give the directors and actors additional time to film more episodes for the series.

Here's everything you need to know from NCIS Season 19 Episode 6, as well as Mark Harmon's possible return.

What Is The Plot For NCIS Season 19 Episode 6?

The NCIS team will investigate the death of a Navy commander responsible for training some of the top athletes in the country.

NCIS Season 19 Episode 6, titled False Start, will air on NBC on Nov. 1 at 9/8c.

As of late, NBC has not yet released a trailer for NCIS Season 19 Episode 6 because it's still quite early. But fans can expect the new promo to be available sometime within the next 10 days.

What Happened To The NCIS Team Following Gibbs' Exit?

NCIS Season 19 Episode 5 was the first time the NCIS team worked together without their longtime leader, Gibbs.

And it didn't take long before the team's new leader was named.

Contrary to the initial rumors, McGee (Sean Murray) didn't take over Gibbs' old job. Instead, the post was given to Parker (Gary Cole) by none other than Vance (Rocky Carroll).

At first, not everyone was happy to know that Parker had been tasked to shadow the team. And even Parker didn't also want to take on the important job. However, he was left with no other choice because Gibbs gave him his blessing to lead the team.

NCIS Season 19 Episode 5 featured a conversation between Parker and McGee, which is exactly what the audiences needed – especially those who were rooting for the latter.

While in the bathroom, Parker asked McGee why he didn't volunteer for the job. And the latter said that the long work hours and the demands of the job were just not for him.

Elsewhere, Palmer (Brian Dietzen) and Ducky (David McCallum) had an important conversation about Gibbs' decision to stay in Alaska.

Palmer begged Ducky not to leave the NCIS team, but the latter reminded him that change is the only constant thing in the world.

Ducky also told Parker that his sadness following Gibbs' departure was just a small price to pay for the latter's peace of mind and happiness.

It's important to note that Gibbs is happy where he is. But does his departure from the team mean audiences will never see him again?

Mark Harmon's Character Could Return To NCIS Season 19

Even though Harmon's exit from NCIS was already making headlines as early as Season 18, it's not hard to assume that the decision didn't come easy for him.

Following his exit, there's still hope for Harmon to return and reprise his role as Gibbs.

It is important to note that Gibbs wasn't killed off in NCIS Season 19 Episode 4. And the fact that the character is just in Alaska opens the doors for more storylines in the future.

While it's unlikely for Gibbs to be featured in NCIS Season 19 anytime soon, our gut feel is telling us that the character will be back before we know it.

Following Harmon's exit, NCIS showrunner Steve Binder released a statement saying that there's hope for Harmon to make a comeback on the show.

"As an executive producer and dear friend, Mark continues to be an integral part of the fabric of the show. Our north star has always been staying true to our characters, and that truth has always guided the stories we tell and where those characters go. So, regarding the future of Gibbs, as long-time fans of the show may have noticed over the years…never count Leroy Jethro Gibbs out," he said.
