Former Australian Test cricketer Michael Slater has been arrested following an alleged incident of domestic violence.

He was taken into custody on Wednesday morning from a home in Manly by police, although the alleged incident took place on October 12th.

Slater, a father of three, has since been charged with stalking/intimidating his partner.

“Officers attached to the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command commenced an investigation yesterday after receiving reports of a domestic violence incident alleged to have occurred on Tuesday 12 October 2021,’’ a NSW Police statement reads.

“Following inquiries, detectives attended a home at Manly about 9.20am and spoke with a 51-year-old man. He has since been arrested and taken to Manly Police Station.”

Slater has been granted police bail and will appear in Waverley Local Court on November 11.

The former Test batter was recently dumped from Channel 7's commentary team ahead of the 2021/22 summer of cricket.

Reports from News Corp claimed comments Slater made towards Scott Morrison on Twitter in May this year partly contributed to his axing.

Slater said Prime Minster had "blood on his hands" for a decision to deny Australian citizens based in India from returning home in the midst of the subcontinent's COVID-19 crisis.

Slater was based in India at the time working in commentary during the Indian Premier League.

“If our Government cared for the safety of Aussies they would allow us to get home. It’s a disgrace!" Slater tweeted.

“Blood on your hands PM. How dare you treat us like this. How about you sort out quarantine system.

“I had government permission to work on the IPL but I now have government neglect.

“And for those who think this is a money exercise. Well forget it. This is what I do for a living and I have not made a penny having left early. So please stop the abuse and think of the thousands dying in India each day. It’s called empathy. If only our government had some!”

Morrison responded labelling Slater's outburst as "absurd".
