The Jamestown Fire Department cleaned up a small fuel spill on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 19, said Lt. Sheldon Mohr.

The department responded to the call at about 4 p.m. at the westbound exit 260 on Interstate 94.

Mohr said an SUV hit a piece of concrete on the highway, resulting in a hole in the vehicle’s fuel tank.

“We contained the spill and then turned the scene over to NDDOT (North Dakota Department of Transportation),” he said.

One unit with four firefighters was at the scene for about 40 minutes, and an additional 15 firefighters were on standby at the fire station but were not needed, Mohr said.
