Different Ways Kim Min Jae Portrays His Unique Charm In "Dali And Cocky Prince"

Kim Min Jae has been impressing viewers every week in “Dali and Cocky Prince” with his irresistible charms!

KBS 2TV’s “Dali and Cocky Prince” stars Kim Min Jae as Jin Mu Hak, a man who lacks schooling and book smarts but is extremely resourceful and talented at making a living, and Park Gyu Young as Kim Dal Li, a woman who is intellectually polished and comes from an elite background but doesn’t know how to take care of herself.

As Jin Mu Hak, Kim Min Jae is clumsy but cute, and manages to look cooler than everyone else while simultaneously appearing like he has nothing at all. Through this role, the actor has been nicknamed a “unicorn male lead” for breaking the stereotype that a male main character must be “cool.”

While Jin Mu Hak is ignorant and a bit rude, he’s incredibly resourceful in terms of business and is more realistic than others. After he falls for Kim Dal Li at first sight, he transforms from someone who only used to care about money into someone who truly recognizes and supports Dal Li’s true self, as she is often treated as a greenhouse plant because of her family’s status. Within this process, Jin Mu Hak’s clumsy charms are seen more often than not, but he still tries his best to help Dal Li successfully run an art museum as the curator.

1. A male lead without perfect shape

Whenever the opportunity arises, Jin Mu Hak is flaunting his ignorance and making crude comments, and unlike most male drama leads, he occasionally looks as if he has nothing. However, behind that bold exterior, he hides a realistic and warm charm and an endearing admiration for Dal Li that has been melting viewers’ hearts.

One of the scenes where this unique charm is most vivid is when Jin Mu Hak and Dal Li reunite as creditor and debtor. As soon as he realizes it’s Dal Li, Mu Hak quickly covers his face and changes his voice, showcasing his lovely yet adorably lame charms. Additionally, after the couple’s first kiss, Jin Mu Hak jokes, “Oh, I wasn’t going to brush my teeth today,” charming viewers with his hilariously immature comments.

2. When Jin Mu Hak spends money!

As someone who is very serious about money, Jin Mu Hak does not buy Dal Li’s affection but instead uses money realistically to become a strong source of support for Dal Li. When creditors come pouring in and Dal Li finds herself in a sticky situation, Jin Mu Hak boasts that he can repay them on her behalf. However, he showcases his cute down-to-earth side when he expresses shock at how massive the debt amount is.

Ahead of the exhibition, Dal Li and the art museum are in a tricky situation because of Jin Mu Hak so he shouts out, “I’ll clean up after myself!” He buys an art piece for 100 million won (approximately $85,113) but is defeated when he receives the art on a USB.

The reason “unicorn male lead” Jin Mu Hak is receiving so much love is thanks to Kim Min Jae’s incredibly unpredictable acting talent. Wearing Mu Hak’s clothes, Kim Min Jae looks to appear ignorant and rude, but instead presents a cute and lovely character.
