McDonald’s doesn’t offer their hyped Premium McWrap anymore, but should they ever decide to bring this ‘healthy’ sandwich option back, employees implore you to reconsider before ordering. One current employee just took to TikTok to let the world know what a pain in the behind making this roll-up was for workers. How bad is it? It’s been five years since the chain pulled the sandwich from stores, and workers *still* have PTSD. If you care about their mental health at all, you should never order this complicated wrap concoction, they’re revealing on social media now. It’s ‘literally awful to make’ the employee griped on TikTok. Yikes! The workers say that this chicken order is a McDonald’s workers worst nightmare. Here’s everything you need to know about this Mickey D’s speciality item from hell.

In case you missed it, in 2013 the fast food chain dropped a “fresh new flavor experience.” The laborious wrap was made with “fresh vegetables,” aka cucumber and spring mix lettuce, a choice of three sauces and “juicy” chicken breast. All the ingredients were wrapped up in a warm tortilla, then packed in “a convenient, hand-held package to fit the busy on-the-go lifestyle,” a press release at the time revealed.

McDonald’s reportedly created the wrap to appeal to its millennial customers who had been flocking to Subway’s “fresh” sandwiches in recent years. The Premium McWrap in all three of its flavor offerings–rice vinegar, sweet chili and creamy garlic–were priced at $3.99 making it an appealing alternative to Subway’s $5 foot long.

“The introduction of McDonald’s new entrée line, the Premium McWrap, is part of our ongoing effort to offer our customers new, relevant menu options and flavors they are looking for,” restaurant owner and operator Steve Ramirez said at the time.

But the people in the back of the kitchen were the ones to pay the price for such a flavor luxury! TikTok user Stephen Patula (aka @patulafamilymcdonalds) who works for his family’s McDonald franchise and uses his popular TikTok page to answer the public’s burning questions about the Chicago-based food chain finally addressed it. In a recent post, Patula revealed that the Premium McWrap was the “most complicated” item to prepare. Although Patula conceded the the wraps were in fact tasty (they “tasted awesome”), they took a long time to make but luckily its no longer an issue since the wraps were discontinued in 2019.

I think I speak for all of us when I say that fast food should be fun and not the nightmare Patula described! Luckily, he says that in the post-Covid era, the menu is now pretty straightforward (they’ve eliminated a lot of items since the pandemic started).
