While the Wolverines still have to play the Northwestern Wildcats this weekend, the Michigan State Spartans are a perfect 7-0 heading into their bye week. Mel Tucker’s team hosts Edwards’ alma mater with more than just bragging rights on the line. These are the last two undefeated teams in the Big Ten entering Week 8. Only one will be after next Saturday’s annual meeting.

Michigan will be more banged up than Michigan State heading into this rivalry game. The Spartans will play inspired football.

Colton Pouncy of The Athletic shared several key defensive statistics that proves Michigan State is a top-25 defense in just about every metric anyone would be interested in. The Spartans are especially strong at getting after the quarterback, averaging 3.71 sacks per game, which is fourth best in the country. Guess what side of the ball Tucker specializes coaching? Good luck with that.

This could be the best game between Michigan and Michigan State since the crazy 2015 ending.
