    La Junta High School softball dominates regional tournament, sets sights on state

    The fifth-seeded La Junta High School softball team punched its ticket to the Class 3A State Tournament on Oct. 16 with a 12-1 win over Gunnison at Tippy Martinez Field. Later in the day, the Tigers won the Region 4 Tournament with a 14-4 win over The Academy. That win assured La Junta of a high seed at state. Read more

    Here are the top 5 takeaways from La Junta football's 31-13 loss to Bayfield

    Here are five takeaways from the La Junta High School football team’s 31-13 loss to 10th-ranked Bayfield on Oct. 16 at Tiger Stadium. The Wolverines accumulated 486 yards of total offense — 237 rushing and 249 passing. Cael Schaefer led the Bayfield running game with 189 yards on 14 carries and he scored two touchdowns on runs of 37 and 71 yards. Quarterback Isaac Ross completed 14 out of 22 passes for 249 yards and he threw two touchdown passes. Both touchdown receptions were by Nic Twedt on plays of 70 and 53 yards. Read more
