SEBRING, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Carol Ann Barnett, 82 died October 19, 2021 at Aultman Alliance Community Care Center.
Carol was born on April 20, 1939 to Orlan and MaryAnn (Bandy) Denny.
Carol grew up in the Westville area and worked for the family business, Purity Dairy while attending Sebring Schools. She was Valedictorian of her high school class, graduating from Sebring McKinley High School in 1957.
She worked at Barnett Insurance Agency enjoying many years in the insurance industry working along side her husband.
A December bride, Carol along with Elvin embraced the holidays. For many years they decorated their home for the community to enjoy. Carol shared her talent and love of music by directing the Children’s Christmas Musicals at her church. She gave from her heart and shared joy with her family, friends, church and community.
Carol was a member of the Alliance Chamber of Commerce and the Women’s Division of the Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce presented her with the Athena Award in 1988. This award is given annually to a woman in the community who has attained and personified the highest level of professional excellence for women in business and is a great community volunteer. She was a member of the Alliance Quota Club and spent many years chairing fundraising events, Carnation Days in the Park and the Annual Fall Dinner. Carol held membership in the Alliance Women’s Club, QuiVie and Mile Branch Grange. At Bethel United Church of Christ, Carol began the Children’s Choir program in 1989 and continued to direct the Children’s Choir and Children’s Bell Choir for many years. She participated in the adult choir,bell choir and served in many various church positions over the years including Deacon and Elder.
She is survived by her husband, Elvin, whom she married December 7, 1958, daughters, Karen (James) Lynn and Linda (Ken) Harris. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Kathryn (Christopher) Denison, Julia (Levi) Beck and Allison Harris; a sister Doris (Gary) Homan and special friend and caregiver Theresa Aberegg.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Orlan and MaryAnn Denny.
There will be a Public Memorial Service for Carol on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at Bethel United Church of Christ 25701 Buck Rd, Beloit, OH 44609. A private interment service will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit.
