Here’s the latest:
LeMahieu
Injury: Sports hernia
Latest: LeMahieu had surgery to repair his sports hernia on Oct. 12. Cashman said he’s expected to need eight weeks to recover and that he’s currently working out and rehabbing at Yankee Stadium. Cashman said he believed the sports hernia was affecting LeMahieu for much longer than the Yankees realized and that it could have been a key contributor to his downturn in production.
Taillon
Injury: Right ankle tendon tear
Latest: Taillon will have surgery to repair his ankle Oct. 28. “The expectations is that by five months he’ll be fully operational, back to where he would have been prior to the surgery,” Cashman said.
Frazier
Injury: Dizziness/fogginess/vision issues
Latest: “Clint Frazier is in constant contact with our medical staff on a weekly basis regarding the status of the dizziness and fogginess he’s experienced for far too long as our medical team and other medical teams have been obviously working through that with him,” Cashman said. “So, they’re staying in constant contact. He is back in Atlanta. He transferred from our Tampa complex toward late in the season to return home to Atlanta.”
Hicks
Injury: Season-ending surgery to repair a wrist tendon sheath
Latest: Hicks should be fully recovered by late November or early December and is contemplating playing winter ball.
Luke Voit
Injury: Left knee inflammation
Latest: Doctors determined Voit needed only rest — and no surgery — for his bum left knee.
Tim Locastro
Injury: Torn ACL
Latest: “He’ll be running soon and will hopefully be a player by the start of next season. Not necessarily spring training,” Cashman said.
Darren O’Day
Injury: Left hamstring strain
Latest: O’Day should be ready for Opening Day, if not for the beginning of spring training, Cashman said.
