James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Begins Production

Following the recent casting of Will Poulter as fan-favorite Marvel hero Adam Warlock, Guardians of Galaxy star Chris Pratt took to Twitter to reveal that production on James Gunn’s long-awaited third installment has finally begun, after four years since the premiere of the sequel. Despite Marvel Studios’ recent release date delays on other MCU films, Gunn has confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will still be keeping its May 5, 2023 theatrical release date as planned.

When asked about the potential appearance of other new characters besides Adam Warlock, Gunn went on to tease that they’ve just recently finished the casting for the dozens of new roles that are set to be included in the upcoming MCU film.

The space-traveling team was most recently seen in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame where they were joined by Chris Hemsworth’s Thor during the final moments of the film. Because of this, Guardians of the Galaxy stars including Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, and Karen Gillan are set to appear in Thor: Love and Thunder which is currently set for a 2022 release. After that, they will go on their next solo adventure which will again be directed and written by James Gunn.

Plot details about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 are still under wraps but it potentially involves the team’s search for the missing Gamora, who abruptly left after Thanos was finally defeated. Gunn also previously confirmed that Bradley Cooper’s Rocket will play a big part in the upcoming threequel
