New York Yankees infielder DJ Lemahieu underwent surgery to repair a sports hernia and is expected to be ready for spring training.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Tuesday that Lemahieu’s recovery time is anticipated to be eight weeks.

Cashman also told reporters that right-handed pitcher Jameson Taillon will have surgery on his ankle on Oct. 28 and have a five-month recovery. First baseman Luke Voit (left knee inflammation) also should be ready for spring training.

Lemahieu, 33, was put on the injured list ahead of Game 162 earlier this month and missed the Yankees’ wild-card game against Boston. The three-time All-Star hit .268, his lowest since hitting .267 in 2014. He hit just 10 home runs in 597 at bats; he hit 10 HRs in 216 ABs in 2020.

Taillon, 29, pitched through a tendon injury in his ankle late in the season. He went 8-6 with a 4.30 ERA in 29 starts. He’s likely not going to be ready for the start of the 2022 regular season.

Also, outfielder Aaron Hicks is almost recovered from a wrist injury and could play winter ball. Hicks played in just 32 games, hitting .194 with four home runs.
