The kittens need your help! You can earn service hours by assisting in any of the following ways:

  • Signup for Project Whiskers, an on-campus adoption event on Friday, October 22nd, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (contact Denise Colwell at dcolwell@tntech.edu or Tina Girdley at tgirdley@tntech.edu to volunteer).
  • Donate any of the following supplies to Carin’ About The Strays (CATS)
    • Friskies canned cat food
    • Purina Kitten Chow Naturals (dry food)
    • Kitty litter
    • Toys
    • Temptations (cat treats)
    • Puppy pads
    • Smallest breakaway kitten collars
    • PetSmart Gift Cards

Bring supplies to the Quad on Friday, October 22nd, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. or email Elizabeth Sofia at esofia@tntech.edu for other donation opportunities. This can count towards service hours!

  • Volunteer to help clean the cat condos, and check on the animals at PetSmart (contact Laura Spiecker via text at (931)529-1883)

Carin’ About The Strays (CATS) is a 501(c)3 organization based out of Cookeville, Tennessee that specializes in the rescue and support of felines in Putnam County, Tennessee. The focus of CATS is to help care for abandoned or mistreated animals through foster programs, spay and neuter interventions, and socialization of orphaned kittens in order to facilitate successful adoptions. Most kittens taken in by CATS are abandoned, orphaned, and/or severely mistreated.
