KODAK, Tenn. — A Tennessee infant died Sunday after being attacked by a family pet.
Sevier County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a Kodak home at about 6:15 p.m. after a caller reported that a baby was not breathing following a dog attack, WBIR reported.
First responders said that the large dog became aggressive toward them, so they put it down at the scene, WBIR reported.
According to the Knoxville News Sentinel, someone else inside the home was wounded trying to protect the 6-month-old child during the attack, but the extent of those injuries was not immediately available.
The child was pronounced dead at the scene, the News Sentinel reported.
