Love ‘Schitt’s Creek’? The Hit Series Is Now a Monopoly Game

Pack those bags, you’re heading to “Schitt’s Creek!” Okay, so not really, but at least you get to play the game. The multiple Emmy-winning series is the latest TV show to receive the board game treatment with “Monopoly: Schitt’s Creek Edition,” released by OP Games earlier this month.
Fans get to relive the trials and tribulations of the Rose family’s adventures in the small town that they once bought as a joke — only as game pieces on a Monopoly board. Join Johnny, Moira, Alexis, and David on a taxing journey as you buy, sell, and trade locations from the hit series starring Dan Levy, Annie Murphy, Eugene Levy, and Catherine O’Hara (now streaming on Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu).
One thing for players to remember: Houses and hotels are few and far between in Schitt’s Creek, so you’ll want to set up improvements and renovations (and try to hold on to your riches in the process). The property row includes the Rosebud Motel, Elmdale Inn, Café Tropical, and Rose Apothecary.
The “Chance” cards and “Community Chest” cards that you’re used to seeing in Monopoly, have also been replaced with the phrases “Love That Journey for Me” and “Hello You” cards inspired by Alexis and Moira.
The game pieces are different as well. Instead of the usual thimble or the wheelbarrow, players can travel around the board as Moira’s Wig, Ted the Turtle, a Rosebud Motel Key, David’s Sunglasses, Bebé Crow, or Patrick’s Guitar.
And of course, to win the game, you’ll have to move strategically enough to buy up everything while bankrupting your opponents. Anyone who has played Monopoly knows that it can stretch over some hours so you might not want to make additional plans if you’re the competitive type.
Monopoly: Schitt’s Creek Edition is designed for 2-6 players, ages 14 and older.
If you’re looking for another game centered around the series, check out “Things: Schitt’s Creek Edition.” A card game that’s extremely easy to understand (designed for at least two players, 14+), and sure to deliver a few laughs. To play, simply grab a card, read the instructions and write down your response — which can be anything that comes to mind. Each card features topics inspired by the series which includes: “Things the Roses wish Twyla served at the café,” “Things that confirm Alexis’ socialite status,” “Things Johnny really shouldn’t wear a suit for,” and “Things Moira and Jocelyn would enjoy for a girl’s day.” All of the responses are then read aloud, and players have to figure out who said what.
