Marcus Lehto, co-creator of Halo: Combat Evolved at Bungie, announced on Tuesday that he's now game director at a new Electronic Arts studio in Seattle, Washington, U.S. This studio will be working on a first-person game of some kind. Lehto formerly founded an independent studio called V1 Interactive. This teams's first game, Disinitegration, released to middling reviews and poor commercial results, which saw the studio close less than a year later.

"Hey everyone, I'm very excited to announce that I've joined @EA as a Game Director, building a new studio in the Seattle area working on first-person games," Lehto writes on Twitter. "I can't wait to share more about what we're creating!"

Publisher Electronic Arts already maintains strong first-person shooter offerings, with Respawn Entertainment responsible for the Titanfall franchise and Apex Legends. Meanwhile, DICE and several support teams are working on Battlefield 2042.

This also comes as Electronic Arts is continuing to invest in its existing franchises and grow, hiring for a new studio called Full Circle that is working on the next Skate game. Meanwhile, Motive Studios is working on Dead Space remake, reviving the survival horror franchise after the last entry, Dead Space 3 in 2013.
