Sovcomflot presents LNG fuel tech to IMO

Russia's Sovcomflot presented its Green Funnel technology used at its LNG-fuelled tankers in a meeting with the International Maritime Organisation in London, the state shipowner said on October 13.

Sovcomflot estimates that its Green Funnel LNG-powered vessels reduce CO2 emissions by 26% versus conventional oil-based fuels, while also eliminating SOx emissions and cutting NOx emissions by 94%. The company has six LNG-fuelled tankers in operation, and a further five under construction.
