Olentangy Orange's Jake Werling earned our Player of the Week honor for Week 9, based on a staff vote.

In a season that has included a three-point loss, an overtime loss and a double-overtime loss, Olentangy Orange finally broke through in Week 9. The play of quarterback Jake Werling was a big reason why.

The senior rushed for 206 yards and touchdowns of 6, 10 and 18 yards on 22 carries as the Pioneers earned their first victory, defeating Hilliard Bradley 29-27. Werling also was 10-for-18 passing for 145 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions.

His performance earned him our Player of the Week honor in a staff vote. Werling received five votes to three for New Albany’s Brock Kidwell and one apiece for Worthington Kilbourne’s J.J. Calip and Big Walnut’s Nate Severs.
