ROCKLAND — Calvin Jarrod Elwell, 35 of Rockland, died October 16, 2021, just 5 days short of his 36th birthday from a car accident in Rockport, Maine.

Cal was born on October 21, 1985, at Waldo County General Hospital to Jay and Eloise Elwell of Brooks, the youngest of three children.

Cal was a happy and active boy who loved the outdoors enjoying many sports at home and at school including fishing, hunting, swimming, baseball, basketball, soccer, track, skiing,  cross country, and little league.

He went on from there to boxing and won the Vermont golden glove championship in 2006.

He attended  Morse Memorial School in Brooks then Mount View Junior High and High School graduating in 2004.

After he graduated he worked at Dunkin Donuts, John Mitton Construction, Bonarigo construction, and Robert Price Insulation before getting a job at the Rockland post office in 2007 where he has been since.

Cal was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Richard Elwell of Brooks; and his maternal grandparents, Omar and Lila Bryant of Knox.

Cal is survived by his parents, Jay and Ellie Elwell; paternal grandmother, Ruth Elwell of Brooks; sister, Monica and her husband Jeremy Glasier and their 4 children Alyson Glasier, Logan Odone, Brenna Odone, and Kerigan Glasier of Liberty and Appleton; brother, Clinton Elwell and his daughter Hannah Elwell of Troy and Lewiston; and his beloved fiance Sarah Roberts, their son Sylis Elwell, and his faithful and loving dog, Penny; he also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2021, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast. 

A funeral service will follow on Thursday, October 21, at 11 a.m., at Brooks Pentecostal Church 178 Monroe Hwy, Brooks, ME 04921.
