Commissioners canceled the local state of emergency in Palm Beach County Tuesday morning.
The Palm Beach County Board of Commissioners approved the state of emergency in August when COVID-19 cases hit a summer surge.
According to the Florida Department of Health, the number of new cases of COVID-19 in Florida topped 151,000 during the week of Aug. 6.
The number of new cases is now down to 19,519, according to the latest report from the state.
The new case positivity rate is now 4.1 percent in Palm Beach County
Now that the state of emergency is canceled, hospitals will no longer have to send weekly reports and they also will not have to report how many ICU beds are available
The county commissioners can reinstate the state of emergency if COVID-19 cases climb again.
In early September, the county was reporting nearly 1,700 COVID-19 cases per week. The number has dropped to 1,400, and nearly 75 percent of people 12 and up have been vaccinated.
