No local schools listed in state COVID-19 outbreak report

Schools in the greater-Holland area did not have any COVID-19 case outbreaks last week, according to the state’s School Related Outbreak Report

Of the new outbreaks listed in the Monday, Oct. 18, update, four were in Ottawa County and one was in Allegan County.

The Ottawa County outbreaks were at Alward Elementary in Hudsonville, Robinson Elementary - Open Door in Grand Haven, Coopersville South Elementary and Allendale Early Childhood Center. Wayland High School was added in Allegan County.

In the past four weeks, there has been just one outbreak in a Holland-area school.

In an update posted Friday evening, Holland Public Schools reported 10 new cases for the week ending Oct. 8, nine among students and one staff member.

For the school year, HPS has had 53 student and 11 staff member cases of COVID-19. 

West Ottawa Public Schools updated its dashboard Monday, showing 18 active student cases. There is currently one active staff case.

There have been 107 total student cases at WOPS this school year. 

An update from Holland Christian on Monday morning showed one active student case and four active staff cases.

So far this school year, Holland Christian has seen 22 student and 11 staff member cases of COVID-19. 

Black River posted an update Monday reporting one new case in its school. There have been 66 total cases at BRPS this year. 

Hamilton Community Schools also updated its dashboard Friday, showing nine current student cases. The update also included one staff case.

The district has had 56 student and 13 staff cases since the start of the school year. 

A letter posted Friday by Fennville Public Schools reported one new student case. There have now been 13 cases at FPS this school year. 

In its most recent update from Oct. 11, Hope College reported six students in isolation. The Holland college has had a total of 49 cases since the start of its fall semester.

There were 83 active cases at Grand Valley State University as of Monday. The seven-day average of new cases per day at GVSU was at 9.86 on Monday, slightly up from last week's average.
