MM 10.19: Former Maryland men’s basketball star Kevin Huerter inks extension with Atlanta Hawks

Former Maryland men’s basketball star Kevin Huerter signed a four-year contract extension with the Atlanta Hawks, the team announced on Monday. The deal is worth $65 million, which equates to roughly $16 million per season.

Before the new contract, Huerter was entering the last year of his rookie contract with the Hawks. Huerter has been with Atlanta since the 2018-19 season where he’s averaged 11.2 points, 3.3 assists and one steal in 29.7 minutes per game over the course of his three years with the team.

Huerter has had back-to-back consistent seasons for the Hawks. Last season, the former Terp averaged 11.
