A group of adventurers is in Fort Worth to help clean the environment and perhaps solve a cold case or two.

Based out of Bend, Oregon the group Adventures With Purpose is in the midst of a coast-to-coast road trip.

"We set out on a fall road trip to work 27 cold cases, looking for 36 people in 44 days," says Jared Leisek, founder of Adventures With Purpose.

This week, they're in Fort Worth.

"We're going to spend four days working from lake to lake to lake to see how many vehicles we can find and recover and pull out of the environment," says Leisek.

Their goal is to pull 25 cars out of lakes between now and Friday.

In just their first two hours on Lake Como, the team located five cars.

When they find them, they mark their locations with buoys so that dive teams can then help pull them out later.

As they pull cars out of lakes, Fort Worth police investigators will work to possibly connect them with cold cases.

"We'll be actively running names that may be associated with vehicles that they pull out of here," says Ofc. Buddy Calzada, "and also the license plate to see if they're possibly connected with any crime, or any of our cold cases here in Fort Worth."

Calzada says the Fort Worth Police Department is glad not only to have Adventures With Purpose in the city, but also to work with the group.

"This team is going out and doing outstanding work," says Calzada. "They've solved numerous cold cases. That's one of the reasons we wanted to partner with them. We want to help solve cases."

On Saturday, all cars that Adventures With Purpose pulls from lakes will be on display at Beard's Towing on East Loop 820 in Fort Worth.

"It's a show and tell," says Leisek. "Every car that we have pulled out over these four days will be on display, and you can come take pictures (and) you can come hang out and see everything that we've done."
