MasterChef star Reynold Poernomo cashes in on the Squid Game craze by making desserts inspired by the global phenomenon

South Korean survival drama Squid Game is the biggest show in Netflix's history.

So it's little wonder why MasterChef star Reynold Poernomo has decided to cash in on the craze by making desserts inspired by the global phenomenon. 

On Tuesday, the 27-year-old invited fans to play by sharing a photo to Instagram of the limited edition sweat treats that will soon be available at his KOI eateries.

While he kept coy about the details, the desserts are shaped into a circle, triangle and square - the symbols used throughout the Netflix series.

Clearly excited, Reynold's fans couldn't get enough of the news, with one eager follower commenting: 'Let's play! Let me in!'

According to SoMag, the symbols are the letters of the Korean alphabet, written in Hangul, the Korean writing system.

They also represent the hierarchy of the soldiers on the series.

The show is currently the #1 show on Netflix's Top 10 lists in 94 countries around the globe, also becoming the first South Korean show to become the #1 show in the Australia, according to CNN.  

Squid Game is estimated to be worth almost $US900 million ($A1.2 billion) for the streaming giant, Bloomberg News reports, citing figures from an internal Netflix document.

The nine-episode thriller, in which cash-strapped contestants play childhood games with deadly consequences in a bid to win 45.6 billion won ($A52 million), became an international hit when it launched last month. 

In comparison to its estimated net worth, the show cost just $US21.4 million ($A28.8 million) to produce, Bloomberg said. 

According to the report, about 132 million people had watched at least two minutes of the show in its first 23 days, easily breaking the record set by UK costume drama Bridgerton, which was streamed by 82 million accounts in its first 28 days.
