The young and exciting Detroit Red Wings have certainly caught the eyes of some around the NHL. With a new attitude, and a couple of entertaining games to start the season, Detroit fans have something worth watching when they take on the the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night.
The Red Wings have yet to lose in regulation so far this season, granted they have only played two games in 2021-22. After taking the defending Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning to overtime, thanks to Tyler Bertuzzi’s four-goal game, the Wings came back with a win over the Vancouver Canucks, despite nearly getting doubled-up in shots. Netminder Thomas Greiss was outstanding, stopping all but one of the 41 shots he faced, while Robby Fabbri, Filip Zadina and Sam Gagner found the back of the net in the 3-1 win.

The Blue Jackets, similar to the Wings, had little expectations coming into this season. Yet, with a new coach and re-tooled roster, they have won their first two games of the season, thanks to an 8-2 drubbing of the Arizona Coyotes last Thursday, followed up by a win over the expansion Seattle Kraken, thanks to Patrik Laine’s game-winner in overtime.
This will be the first meeting of three meetings between the two clubs. Last season, with Columbus and Detroit in the realigned Central Division, the Wings had the Jackets number, going 4-2-2 during the 2020-21 season.
