EastEnders has teased that Tiffany and Keegan Butcher-Baker could reunite ahead of Maisie Smith's exit.
The married couple have been on the outs ever since Keegan confessed to Tiffany that he'd had a one-night fling with her cousin Dotty Cotton over the summer.
Tiffany tries to move on in upcoming scenes by going on a date, yet the night doesn't go to plan with new guy Aaron because Keegan happens to be working at the club.
A disappointed Tiff tries to make a quick exit, only for her high heel to break. Keegan rushes to her aid to give her a piggyback ride all the way home!
Liam happens to see what's happening, so he orders Keegan to leave his sister alone. Though Tiffany doesn't object, the former lovers share a poignant glance that is loaded with romantic subtext.
The following day, Liam tries to convince Tiffany to give Aaron another chance when he apologises for the previous night, but she's no longer keen.
Iqra Ahmed watches the conversation between the siblings from afar, then approaches Tiffany later to assure her Liam has been all wrong about Keegan.
Keegan is facing trouble at that very moment when the police turn up to the club to conduct a search. He is quick to vouch for Dotty as she explains how her mother has caused yet more trouble.
Dotty's mum Sandy Gibson recently fled the Square following a very brief return, after she'd stolen the money her daughter was going to use to take her to a detox.
Fresh off her conversation with Iqra, Tiffany arrives at the club to open her heart to Keegan. Once she sees him standing up for Dotty, a heartbroken Tiffany decides to leave before anyone sees her.
This sad development follows the news that Maisie Smith will be quitting her role as Tiffany later this year to pursue other opportunities.
"It's time to say farewell to Tiff," Smith said earlier this month. "I've grown up on EastEnders since 2008, and have learnt from the best over the past 13 years. I'm very excited for my next challenge and thank the BBC for the opportunity they gave me as a 6-year-old."
EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One.
