As AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia gear up for yet another meeting - the first one in the 2021/22 Premier League season on Wednesday. Goal takes a look down memory lane as far as the previous clashes are concerned between the two sides.

​Memorable Mashemeji Derbies

Mashemeji derbies have often been surrounded by claims of witchcraft, and in 1979, during a Kenyatta Cup final, AFC Leopards goalkeeper&nbsp;Mahmoud Abbas&nbsp;- an outstanding player for club and country at the time - claimed he saw two serpents that looked like footballs coming at him when he conceded a goal scored by Gor Mahia's iconic star, Sammy 'Jogoo' Onyango.

Abbas added that he conceded the goal as he could not make a quick decision on which ball to follow and stop.

​Gor Mahia 1-0 AFC Leopards: Witchcraft claims

The local giants met in Malawi in 1980 during a Cecafa Club Cup final game.&nbsp;

Around this time, Ingwe boasted a squad full of outstanding players, and JJ Masiga was one of them. In the final, Masiga scored the opening goal for AFC Leopards just after rejoining the team after completing his university exams.

George Yoga equalised for K'Ogalo before Masiga registered a brace on the hour mark but&nbsp;Gor Mahia fought back and scored another equaliser in the 75th minute through John Chore. In the 85th minute, Nahashon Lule scored the winning goal for Gor Mahia in an all-Kenyan final encounter.

Gor Mahia 3-2 AFC Leopards: First K'Ogalo Cecafa trophy

This was the first Mashemeji derby after AFC Leopards had just fought their way back to the Premier League after spending a season in the second tier.

Neither side were on top form, as Ingwe were at the bottom while K'Ogalo were 11th, but being an iconic fixture, the game generated a lot of emotions from both sets of fans.

Obadiah Ndege - in the 60th minute - scored the only goal of the encounter to hand the AFC Leopards the crucial win in 2009.

AFC Leopards 1-0 Gor Mahia: Ingwe's morale-boosting victory

The former Zoo FC centre-forward scored a brace as he endeared himself to the Green Army. He opened the score in the first half before getting the second goal in the second half during the May 19, 2019 encounter.

Jacques Tuyisenge added the third for Gor Mahia while the 1998 Premier League kings denied the eventual champions a clean sheet courtesy of Vince Oburu's strike.

AFC Leopards 1-3 Gor Mahia: Nicholas Kipkirui's moment

K'Ogalo continued with their dominance of this fixture with a big win on November 10, 2019, as Ivorian forward Gnmien Yikpe - who ironically did not settle at the club as he left after a season barely - scored a brace at Kasarani.

The former Yanga SC striker scored in the 56th minute and eight minutes later added the second while the other goals were scored by Lawrence Juma and Clifton Miheso.&nbsp;AFC&nbsp;Leopards' goal was struck by Tresor Ndikumana, who later left for Rayon Sports of Rwanda.
