Plymouth schools name three new assistant principals

PLYMOUTH – Local school officials have announced the appointment of three new assistant principals.

Jonathan Evans has been hired to fill a vacancy at Plymouth South High School left by the recent promotion of Marc Loranger to the post of director of college, career and technical education.

Lori Gover has been appointed assistant principal at West Elementary School. She succeeds Stacey Perry, who was recently appointed interim principal at South Elementary School.

School officials announced the appointments of several new administrators last week.

Andrew Sorensen has been appointed assistant principal at Plymouth Community Intermediate School.

Sorensen had been a long-time English teacher at the school. He fills a vacancy left by Kevin Avitabile, who left his job as assistant principal of Ranger House to take a job as coordinator of social emotional learning and family engagement for Middleborough schools.

Evans and Loranger’s appointments are permanent positions. Gover, Perry and Sorensen’s appointments are one-year terms.

The school district also reported one retirement, two resignations and 19 other appointments last week.

Cheryl Tavernelli, a math teacher at Plymouth Community Intermediate School, will retire Dec. 31 after more than 16 years of service to the district.

Barbara Cameron, a cafeteria worker at Plymouth South High School, and Jenna Ellis, a Title 1 teacher at Hedge Elementary School, have resigned.

The other appointments are:  Paul Riordan, HVAC teacher, PSHS; Brett Cabral, assistant football coach, PNHS; Sean Clifford, second assistant football coach, PSHS; Sean Clifford, first assistant winter track coach, PSHS; Kyle Cocozza, assistant football coach, PNHS; Kenneth Drew, second assistant football coach, PNHS; Ashley Gilligan, second assistant volleyball coach, PSHS; Stephen Medeiros, second assistant football coach, PSHS; Margaret Slattery, first assistant cross country coach, PSHS; Jeffrey Tracey, head cross country coach, PSHS; Bridgette Bernard, paraeducator-2 student activities monitor, NMES; Suzanne Bernal, classroom paraeducator-1, MES; Adam Buckley, paraeducator-4 job coach, PHA; Kathy Buonopane, cafeteria worker, PSHS; Brook D'Andrea, paraeducator-3 STRIVE, PSMS; Paul Frost, custodial maintenance floater, DW; Cheri Gentili, cafeteria worker (one-year appointment), CSES; William Martin, paraeducator-2 student activities monitor, NMES; and Michelle Willis, cafeteria worker, PNHS.
