Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale has confirmed that one villager will be arrested next week in connection with the events of Super Soap Week.

This week's episodes see lives hang in the balance as the survival adventure challenge organised by Priya Kotecha and Ellis Chapman goes horribly wrong.

Monday's episode (October 18) saw Manpreet Sharma and Charles Anderson fall into deadly rapids after an unstable rope bridge gave way beneath them.

The drama that follows sees Manpreet, Charles, Victoria Barton and David Metcalfe all fight for their lives in the water. More stunts follow later in the week – expected to revolve around the maize maze which has been set up at the end of the course.

While full details of what happens this week are still being kept secret, Emmerdale bosses have confirmed that the event ends in "death and disaster".

Next week, the police launch an official investigation and DS Rogers arrives at the hospital to start asking some tough questions.

Soon enough, a finger is pointed at one villager and an arrest is made. But has the true culprit been exposed or are the Emmerdale police on the wrong track?

Emmerdale's producer Kate Brooks recently promised a big aftermath to this week's special episodes.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other media, Brooks explained: "It is very safe to say that there'll be a lot of repercussions to come from this week. What happens during this week will really impact the lives of some of our well-loved characters.

"This is just the start of something that will irrecoverably change our characters' lives forever. We do these weeks and they're big, exciting, explosive and brilliant, but they fall short if they don't give us bigger stories afterwards.

"These really catapult the stories into completely different and unexpected directions."

Emmerdale airs these scenes on Tuesday, October 26 at 7pm on ITV.
