Capcom announces that Monster Hunter: World surpasses 20 million units shipped worldwide

Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter: World has surpassed 20 million units shipped worldwide. This number includes shipments and digital downloads for the base game, as well as shipments/downloads of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition.

A note of important context for this 20 million number, back in May 2021, Capcom revealed that Monster Hunter: World was at 17.1 million units shipped. Capcom's Platinum Titles IR page currently has the game sitting at 17.3 million units (as of June 30, 2021). Capcom's Platinum Titles page separates Iceborne expansion sales, which is currently sitting at 8.2 million units.

The ~3 million unit difference for Monster Hunter: World between June 2021 and now seems likely due to including Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition in the sales count in today's press release, a bundle including both the main game and expansion, where it is otherwise not counted on Capcom's Platinum Titles page for Monster Hunter: World.

The rest of the press release reiterates that Monster Hunter Rise has sold a cumulative 7.5 million units, and has both a PC version and Sunbreak expansion coming in 2022.
