BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech head coach David Dent has announced the hiring of Laura Harting as assistant coach of the swimming program.

“We are excited to welcome Laura to the Panther Family,” said Dent.

“She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from all three NCAA levels. I am excited to see her help our athletes reach their full potential!”

Harting comes to Florida Tech from NCAA Division I St. Bonaventure University in Olean, New York where she served as Assistant Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Coach and Recruiting Coordinator since May 2019.

“I am very excited to become a member of the Panther Family,” stated Harting.

“I am extremely grateful to Athletic Director Jamie Joss, Allie Macom and David Dent for giving me the opportunity to be here! I’m looking forward to getting started and making a positive on the scholar-athletes here at Florida Tech.”

At St. Bonaventure, Harting assisted in leading the Bonnies’ men’s swimming and diving team to a third-place finish at the 2020 A-10 Conference Championships. She also worked closely with the 2020 Gold Medalist and 200-yard individual medley A-10 record holder, Tjaard Krusch.

Coinciding with her time at St. Bonaventure, Harting also served as Pool Manager, Swim Lessons Coordinator, and Age Group Swim Coach at Bartlett Country Club in Olean.

During her time at Wittenberg, Harting assisted in the recruiting of 12 new student-athletes for the 2018-19 season, doubling the size of the previous season’s recruiting class.

Before her stint at Wittenberg, Harting was the head coach at the Walnut Grove Swim Club in Trenton, Ohio, and the Monroe Wildwood Swim Team in Monroe, Ohio.

During her time at Walnut Grove in 2017-18, she led the team to its highest finish in the Butler County Swim League Championship meet in six years. At the helm of the Monroe Wildwood Swim Team from 2015-17, she grew the team from 60 to 80 swimmers in two summers.
