The Boston Red Sox keep blasting grand slams in the American League Championship Series.
After hitting two grand slams in Game 2 of the ALCS, the Red Sox made it three grand slams in the series when Kyle Schwarber launched one in the second inning of Game 3 against the Houston Astros at Fenway Park.
Boston already had two runs in on the inning, and Schwarber turned that into a six-run inning with this grand slam on a 3-0 count:
Postseason bombs are nothing new for Schwarber, who entered this game with eight career postseason homers — so this is No. 9 — and a .960 OPS in 111 plate appearances. That’s clutch slugging.
It’s also a record-setting homer for the Red Sox. The third grand slam ties the Atlanta Braves (1998) for the most grand slams ever hit by a team in the postseason, and it’s the most grand slams ever hit by a team in a postseason series.
