NBA Notes: Wizards, Jabari Parker, Nets, Raptors

Wizards star guard Bradley Beal could be available for the season-opener despite suffering a knee contusion during the preseason, new coach Wes Unseld Jr. told reporters.Bradley Beal

“He stayed away from the live stuff, but he did on-script, up and down, he was moving well, he was shooting,” Unseld said of Beal at practice, via Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington. “I don’t think it is anything significant. We’re just being cautious right now. I don’t see any lingering effects.”

Meanwhile, forward Rui Hachimura returned to the team after being away for personal reasons. He just finished going through health and safety protocols.

He’s out of protocol at this point and able to do individual workouts,” Unseld said. “We’re transitioning him into that phase.”

More from the NBA

  • In case you missed it, the Wizards claimed two-way guard Joel Ayayi off waivers over the weekend. The rookie out of Gonzaga was released by the Lakers last week. You can check out the full post here.
  • As we relayed over the weekend, veteran forward Jabari Parker has been released by the Celtics. Multiple teams are believed to be showing interest, including the Nuggets, Spurs and Jazz.
  • While the Nets are expected to be minus Kyrie Irving, at least to start the season, they will be fielding one of the NBA’s tallest lineups. They like that idea, too. You can read the full post here.
  • In a somewhat surprising move, the Raptors decided to retain forward Sam Dekker, who has bounced around the NBA and overseas. They released their full roster and Dekker was included. After a season in Tampa Bay, Toronto opens the season back at home vs. Washington on Wednesday.
