King Gnu’s ‘BOY’ Video Depicts a Boy & Monster’s Sweet Friendship: Watch

King Gnu shared the new music video accompanying the J-pop band’s latest single “BOY.”

The video was helmed by OSRIN, the art director responsible for most of King Gnu’s visuals including their mega-hit song “Hakujitsu.” The quirky narrative depicts the strange but heartwarming friendship between a chubby boy — the childhood persona of lead singer Satoru Iguchi — and a quickly growing pink monster that may or may not really exist. Thanks to the gentle monster, the boy befriends the other members of the band, and together they work up the courage to stand against a great foe.

“Back in those days, we used to have more friends than now, like toys and small living things, and every day was fun and shiny,” OSRIN comments. “Though things can’t be the same now that we’re grown, I hope the visuals remind you of your friends from the past from time to time.”
