The Santa Clarita Valley Charity Chili Cook-Off is slated to kick off later this month with chefs competing for ‘Best Chili’, a Halloween costume competition and lots of entertainment.
On Oct. 28, 40 amateur chefs are set to compete for the ‘Best Chili’ award at the Santa Clarita Valley Charity Cook-Off, which is slated to take place at the Hyatt Valencia and feature a Halloween dress-up contest, a decorated-booth competition and plenty more.

“This year we have been excited to implement a Best Dressed Halloween Competition for those who choose to dress up,” said Nicole Stinson, an organizer with the project. “But really we’re just so excited to see people at an event after we’ve had to cancel both our March 2020 event and March 2021 event.”
Those attending the upcoming cook-off are set to have the opportunity to enjoy live entertainment, silent and live auctions, casino tables, vendor booths and much more, according to organizers.
The Chili Cook-Off is slated to take place at 5:30 p.m. for VIP advanced-entry guests ($75) and 6 p.m. for general admission guests ($40), according to organizers.
A limited amount of advance-purchase VIP tickets are available, and these include early entry, one drink ticket, VIP area access, Casino Cash, Souvenir glass, VIP parking, swag bag, and VIP hors d’oeuvres provided by Salt Creek Grille and Wolf Creek Restaurant, according to organizers.
“During past years, we’ve been able to raise up to $60,000 for these charities in just four hours,” Stinson said. “This year, there’s really no telling what the donations will hold due to the coronavirus pandemic. We’re hoping that more people show up at the door.”
Since 2012, the proceeds have benefited local nonprofits and charities, according to organizers. This year’s earnings are expected to be set aside for two local charities, FeedSCV and the Wish Foundation wellness centers.
The WiSH Education Foundation’s mission is to help bridge the gap in state education funding and provide for student programs in the William S. Hart Union School District, according to WiSH Education officials.
