One of Cleveland's favorite ice cream eateries is about to be no more.

The owners of Sweet Moses Soda Fountain & Treat Shop in Gordon Square have announced they will permanently close this weekend. The "last scoop" will be served Sunday, or sooner if supplies run out.

A Facebook post indicated those in charge of Sweet Moses had planned to sell the business to new owners and keep the brand alive. However, those plans "have fallen through, leading to the difficult decision to close the shop."

"It’s been fun, exciting and fulfilling to make this dream come alive in the Gordon Square Arts District," the post further read. "We cannot thank our neighbors, customers and employees enough for your support and friendship since the very first day we opened."

First opened in 2011, Sweet Moses gave west siders a traditional ice cream parlor that brought back the nostalgia of yesteryear, complete with employees wearing uniforms once familiar in the 1950s. Besides the regular ice cream flavors and other treats, their signature sundaes included the Bob Feller Ballpark Sundae (caramel with hot fudge and peanuts), the Shoreway Sundae (coffee ice cream with hot fudge, toffee, and almonds), and The Terminal Tower (ten scoops of ice cream, one of each classic flavor).

Sweet Moses is located at 6800 Detroit Avenue. What will take its place remains to be seen.
