The Utah Department of Health reported an additional 23 people have died from COVID-19 since Friday.
This new number increases the total number of Utah deaths to 3,090 since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
Over 3,000 positive test results have come in over the last three days. 608 of those cases belong to school-aged children.
The majority of the school-aged cases come from kids between the age of five and 10-years-old.
Over the weekend, an additional 12,731 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered to Utahns across the state.
Currently, 517 people are battling the virus inside Utah hospitals.
THE UDOH REPORTED THE FOLLOWING MONDAY:
Positives:
We will report 532,183 positive cases today. This is an increase of 3,036 new cases since Friday.
- 1329 cases on 10/15
- 1092 cases on 10/16
- 639 cases on 10/17
24 cases removed from days prior to 10/15
School-age cases:
- School-aged children account for 608 of today's newly announced cases. We will report 298 cases in children ages 5-10, 125 cases in children ages 11-13, and 185 cases in children ages 14-17 since Friday.
Vaccines:
- We will report 3,618,152 total doses administered. This is an increase of 12,731 doses since Friday.
Vaccinated vs Unvaccinated Risk Ratio:
- In the last 28 days, people who are unvaccinated are at 13.1 times greater risk of dying from COVID-19, 11.1 times greater risk of being hospitalized due to COVID-19, and 6.0 times greater risk of testing positive for COVID-19 than vaccinated people.
- Since February 1, 2021, people who are unvaccinated are at 8.9 times greater risk of dying from COVID-19, 7.6 times greater risk of being hospitalized due to COVID-19, and 3.9 times greater risk of testing positive for COVID-19 than vaccinated people.
Lab Tests:
- We will report 3,601,640 people tested. This is an increase of 18,891 people tested since Friday.
- We will report 6,491,617 total tests. This is an increase of 35,550 tests since Friday.
Trends:
- The rolling 7-day average for positive tests is 1,247 per day.
- The rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of "people over people" is 15.5%. The rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of "tests over tests" is 10.2%.
Hospitalizations:
- There are 517 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Total hospitalizations from the beginning of the outbreak are 23,266.
Deaths:
We will report 3,090 total deaths, which is 23 more deaths than Friday.
